skimmer stop skimming chang carbon media !

Hi ,,,,

After i change my carbon and use API carbon my skimmer stope skimming from one day ! why ?

something probably disturbed the skimmer, how long has it been down?

There is a pretty fair overlap between the portion of your dissolved organic compounds (DOC) that carbon removes and the portion that a skimmer will remove. When you put in fresh carbon, it's probably removing a substantial amount of what your skimmer would otherwise remove.

As the adsorption ability of the carbon is gradually used up, the skimmer will pick up more and more DOC that the carbon didn't get first...

I have the same problem everytime I change ESV carbon. It always start skimming again after 24 hours. I also have the same problem when I change my filter sock, but it come back after a few hours. I rinse both with RO/DI water. Using a downdraft skimmer.
