Are the threads and slip sizes the same as Sch 40, in general, can you use the two together?

And when combining them, do you use the glue for the sch 80?

The outside diameter will remain the same between the two, you can use 40 pipe with 80 fittings and vise versa. Either will require glue providing they are socket fittings.
