I've seen lots of Acan frags that end up growing into a ball. What is the best way to avoid this from happening? I've considered shaving down the skeleton, until it's just a very thin skeleton. I've heard about using epoxy or putty to build up a "ramp" to the flesh, but really would like to find a different solution. I recently fragged an Echinophillia that had some very thick skeleton in places. I wonder if they'd end up growing into a ball formation too.

Acans heads grow faster than it grows the skeleton to form on too. So it is almost impossible to stop the balling unless you place it on a flat rock then it might encrust but I don't really know for a fact.

I added an acan to a flat piece of rock, and it is spreading out slowly. The older portion of the acan is a little "taller" than where the new polyps are.
