Anyone know anything about this RO/DI unit and how it performs compared to the other like the filter guys, air water and ice or bulk reef supply?

No, but it looks fancy. I have the Filterguys

$100 less without he booster pump

This is what I have and it works great!!

Looks like a pretty darn good deal considering all the equipment you are getting. The meat of all RO/DI systems is the membrane and filter cartridges. The cool part about RO/DI systems is that they are all pretty much universal, and you can change or add parts as you go along.

I'd contact the manufacturer and find out which membrane the system uses, and what is the micron size rating on the carbon and sediment filters.

Well I have to say I love mine I had a 5 stage spectra pure 90 GPD
and I was getting about 50 GPD tops with 80psi input pressure. The Vertex unit out performs the Spectra pure unit I am getting 100 GPD with no problem. I just finished upgrading my 265 Gallon to a 300 Gallon and the RO/DI unit ran for almost 36 hours strait and the product production never slowed down. My only gripe so far is the auto shut off on mine dose not seem to work.

I have the vertex unit and it is amazing. IT does everything I want it to do. Puts out plenty of water and is more efficient than most out there. This is because the booster pump is used for a backflush to keep the filters cleaner longer. Just like the large industrial units. It is very heavy duty and you will be very happy with the vertex RO DI unit. One of the best in the market today.

There is a very good discussion and review of the unit here: http://www.salt-city.org/showthread.php?p=151371#post151371

I love my unit and an still doing the happy dance!

I used to love my AWI Unit, but this has it beat hands down!

My waste ratio was 1:.8 good to waste. And it put out more per day than what it was rated for.

Another big plus is no ASOV. It has electronic pressure switches!

asov? what does that mean ? does it use a flow restrictor like spectrapure...

I have one, I've been very happy with it. Couldn't ask for much more. I'm thinking about adding an additional RO membrane because the pressure can support it. Crazy to think about making it even more efficient lol.

My only complaint was that I was an RO/DI n00b when I bought it. I knew it was a good unit but still didn't fully understand the process and the instructions did not do much to help with that. Also initially water drops would leak from the hose fittings between a couple of the canisters but it stopped after a couple hours and hasn't done it since (almost a year ago). It was disappointing at the time.

I think it is an extremely good value for what you get. Hard to beat.

im not sure but i believe vertex use a G.E. membrane.

both vertex and spectra uses a smaller flow restrictor therefore you will get less waste water. but it will overdrive the membranes and membrane replacement is more freq.

i personally was looking at the vertex and spectra units until i found out more info about it.

i have a buddy that own both a vertex and spectra unit because of the low waste to usable water ratio. but he had to change the membranes more often to keep the tds low. he later end up buying a filterguys unit.

look into the filterguys. they use top notch parts and great service.

oh and i end up buying a filterguys ocean reef miser unit. its about a 1:1 to 1:1.25 ratio.

It means Auto Shut Off Valve

Here is another current thread about the Vertex: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=16960718#post16960718

Vertex does use the GE membrane.
