Mp40 keeps falling off

I have 2 mp40's set at 3/4" and constantly on reefcrest mode. My glass is 3/4'', so I have it set to the right thickness. When one of my pumps (slave) runs in reefcrest it will all the sudden fall off the tank without anything touching it. If I run it in lagoon mode its totally fine. It does this randomly, I thought it was just bad luck a few times, but now it happens several times a week. What is going on here?

How old is your pump? Have you tried cleaning the wet side by soaking it in vinegar?

I am actually cleaning the wet side as we speak. The pump was bought on March 1 2009.

I just cleaned it and put it back on the tank. Within 2 minutes the pump fell off again. I am going to switch pump wetsides to see if that makes a difference.

It is definitely the wetside. I just swapped it to the other pump and it fell off within 1minute. Whats going on here? Its almost as though the magnet has no strength anymore.

I use double stick tape on the dry side to keep my Vortechs from falling off.

When you say set it at 3/4" did you mean you took off the pin spacer? I have a MP40W and the instructions say remove the pin spacer for 3/4" thick tanks.

I meant 3/8" I just realized my mistake.
