I just purchased a yellow sebae anemone. Are all the yellow anemones dyed? I asked the clerk if it was dyed and he assured me that it was not, however a friend of mine has doubts. Can someone clarify this for me?

Geez. That bugs me, paid $150 Cdn for it. What will it fade to, white?

I would say that 99.999% of yellow Sebaes are dyed.

And their track record is very very poor.

If it makes it it will lose the dye over time, turn white, and than brown when it regains its beneficial algae. As todd said very poor survival rates in general. It really is a shame the anemones are being pulled from the wild only to end up dyed.

Man, when I first saw the anemone I thought it was absolutely beautiful, but now when I look at it, I see it as a sad torture story. I am bummed out. I will contact the owner of the store tomorrow.

That's too bad. I'd take it back that's a lot of money to spend on something that probably won't make it. :(
