First of all does anybody know what kind of ballast the Coralife Aqualight Pro uses. I know its a magentic type ballast, but what exact kind?

I was wondering if I replaced the stock ballast with the New Ice Cap electronic ballast it would give me more output. Does anybody think this is true? I don't know much about this stuff so any help would be great. If it matters I am running 2 150w 20000K DE XM's now. But want to change to DE 14000K Phoenix in a month or 2.

I was under the impression that the newer type electroinc ballast are more powerful is this true?

These are the ones I am looking at:

leave it alone, im pretty sure the corralife units have the capacitor and ignitor built into the hood and the magnetic ballast is seperate. Had a friend with the 250 watt unit almost stat his hood on fire when he plugged in the icecaps that he bought to replace the magnetic hqi ballasts that came with it

I already was aware I would have to remove the stock igniters out of the circuit, but thank you for the warning.

your hqi mag ballast is the best ballast for par....plus as the bulb ages it will send more juiceto it.....go to the pheonix its the best bulb

Thank you. I think I am going to get the pheonix next week. It been about 10 months with the XM's. I am getting pretty good growth though.

Do you guys think I will have to light acclimate if I get the 14000K Pheonix bulbs?

And you think the ballasts I have are strronger? Does anybody know the exact type they are?
