I have a Current USA 48" 4x65W Dual Satelite fixture and it is about time to change out the PC bulbs. The current bulbs in the fixture are the stock (2) Dual Daylight (6700K/10000K), and (2) Dual Actinic (460nm/420nm). The combitnation of all the bulbs is pretty white. I would like to get a bulb combo that has a bit more blue to it. I am thinking about doing (2) Dual Actinic and (2) Actinic/Daylight (460nm/10000K). I want to have more blue in the light without sacrificing PAR. Would this new combo accomplish this?

I am eventually going to upgrade to a T5 setup, but can't do this for a while, so changing bulbs in the current fixture is the only option until then.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

You know you want the dual actinic so there is no worries there, but you might be better off just buying one dual/daylight and one actinic/daylight and seeing how that looks, and worst case you have to buy another actinic/daylight (or maybe even dual actinic). IME going up in K rating and staying the same for Par rating is pretty tough to do. The 6500k bulbs are usually the king of par, and it goes down from there as you go up in K.

2 12k lamps and 2 420nm actinics. You would acrifice a whole lot of light going with 2 duel and 2 full actinics.

check out the pc-r bulbs from uvl... they have reflectors inside and come in some nifty colors. reefgeek.com has them!!

i have used a combo that had 3 blue/actinic and one white bulb and it was sweet.

I think I will go with (2) UVL 12000K and (2) UVL Super Actinics from reefgeek.com. They are running a sale on the bulbs right now too!
