I am looking @ a Coralife Turbo-Sea 1090 or a gen-x pcx-30
As a return pump. only a 20watt difference between them. Do they provide enough flow for a 125 (4x2x2) tank??
If so, which would you go with.

Thanks

Why not base your sump flow on about what your skimmer flow is?
I have a 120g 4x2x2 and i use a quiet one 2200 for a return pump 35 watts 580gph.my returns are silent.
I use a AquaC 240 skimmer with a blueline external pressure pump 790gph@90 watts according to killawatt meter.
So i figure with head loss around 500gph for both and my skimmer pulls a ton stuff out.rather than a fast return racing waste right by it.JMO
I use 6100 tunze's for in tank flow.IMO either of those pumps would not be enough in tank flow.

Ok, thanks for the Info. What would you suggest then? I dont know how much tht Tunze is but anything with the word "Tunze" infront of it is expensive.

Thanks all.

Ha ha, sory for that. Looking @ OCT-NW-150 Rated Reef Octopus Needlewheel Skimmer 150 Gallon

SO scratch the pump output to the skimmer cause this skimmer comes with a pump.
WHat would you suggest I should do?
I dont have the money for the high end stuff (atleast not now cause the Tank and standcost me a preety penny)
How about a subed Quiet one 4000 for return, two Korrila 4's for flow and th Octopus NW150, to get the tank started out.

I will be using a 40gallon Breeder as sump. It will be Baffles and I will make a refug section also

The quiet one 4000 is a 1000gph pump also, that skimmer you listed maybe moves 300 gph at the most.
if it were me, i would use the the quiet one 3000 or 2200 or similar brand/flow.Like i said i use the 2200 model and find it perfect for my needs.I do have a 4000 i used to use as a return pump.i found by cutting down to smaller pump my skimmer pulls alot more than it did with the 4000.not to mention it made my drains gurgle.
So my thoughts
Q/O 3000 or 2200
OCT NW 150 or 200 maybe being better or like
two Korrila 4's
and i think you will be happy.

No problem.
I think that set up will give you pretty good bang for the buck.Depending on what you plan on keeping, you might find the 2 korrila 4's alittle weak. but for softies and lps they should be a good start.
