he needs some melafix asap, IMO.

he was eating fine..... i noticed the sores by his tail this morning and thought the 2 saddleback clowns may have been picking on him. i saw no bullying though at all. i moved him to my show tank and found him like this a little while ago. all of my local stores are closed today. would they have melafix at petco?

i bought some pimafix at a local store. thank god they were open today. the owner says it is better than melafix.
hope he is right.
any further suggestions from anyone?

Keep the water super clean, no bright lights, offer some pvc for it to hide and treat with an antibacterial. That's the most you can do really.

Check the water parameters of you QT to make sure that you're not spiking ammonia or something.

+1 on ammonia..pimafix is also an iffy choice would use something stronger IMO
