Hey All,
I have a 40G breeder acylic.
I was looking to buy a 8x39w t5 fixture. (36")
That should be plenty to grow whatever sps coral i want correct?

Thanks

More than enough.

unless your tank is different then a normal 40g breeder you can only fit 6. 7 if you align them in an arching formation.

4 is enough, 6 is more than enough. Of course, make sure you get individual reflectors, or no amount of bulbs is enough.

I'm going to do the ATI Sunpower module 6x39watt fixture over my future 40breeder tank.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Nova Extreme Pro 6 bulb fixture I run doesn't have individual reflectors.

It's working fine for me on my 58 all sps tank, and from some of the progression sequences I've posted in the past, growth is pretty good.

I agree Bwest,

I run the NEP on my 50g Breeder and get awesome growth from it....

Which type of bulbs should I go with? This is not going to be a dominant sps tank, though.

ATI, Giessman, UVL are all good makers bulbs. The next thing would be what kind of look you wanted, ie 10k, 15k, 20k?

Theres a LFS, that have a 55G reef tank, they only have 2x54W HO 18K t5's. It was bright too! So, probably that look.
Heres the tank.

It sort of has individual reflectors, at least it has one curved one to sort of mimic them. It's not as good as SLR's but it comes close enough that it will allow people to keep high light creatures with that fixture, especially after the stock bulbs are swapped out for higher quality bulbs such as ATI.

To the OP, go with a 4 or 6 bulb fixture such as the ATI Sunpower, Nova Extreme Pro and Tek would be less effective but sufficient choices as well. Retrofits with Icecap reflectors are also very nice and quite efficient with light delivery.

It has an individually contoured reflector. This isnt as effecient as true individual reflectors but certainly is enough for a 58.
