Can I do a high salinity dip on my LR. Or will this put my tank in a new cycle. I can not trap the Mantis. I am ready to dip with salinity of 1.40 i read. I heard this will not harm the Rock. But I want to make sure.

If it is just one rock, get some RO/DI water, let it boil, then stick the rock in it for a min. no more mantis.

Where did you read that hypersalinity will not affect the bacteria on your rock even though hyposalinity will?

Have you tried trapping it?

I always liked the seltzer method. Honestly if the dip is relatively brief you will have minimal effect on the anaerobic bacteria deeper in the rock. If it is only one rock the damage to your filtration should be manageable.
