Anyone have this skimmer? It looks to be somewhat new. I've read a few links and watched the video, but I'm looking for personal experience.

Here's a link: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4392+20033&pcatid=20033

Love the price point, and I know Eshopps has a decent reputation. The video looks promising. I'm a bit concerned about the cheapish looking acrylic... but I'm careful enough with my fish stuff.

I'm thinking of using it for my 30 cube tank's sump.

Thanks:cool:

i have the psk-300.
its working for me, but its my first real skimmer other than a bak-pak, so i dont have anything to compare it to. mine pulles pritty good skimmate.
mine sitts a little to deep in my sump so i get a good green to brown skimmate. i cant chnge the heighth because of my stand but it works good for me.
here is a picture of mine new before i put it in

Thanks for posting the pic. I've had the bakpak as well. I'm sure it's much better than the bakpak, right?

Any knowledgeable ppl have any opinions simply by looking at the skimmers?

I had an original bak-pak which was way better than the bak-pak2. i will take a picture of the skimmer right now with it skimming, and post it so you can see it in action

I don't have the in sump, but I picked up the Eshopps PSK-75h (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4392+19865&pcatid=19865). I had to make a couple of small modifications, but I LOVE this skimmer. We are using it on our 20 gallon reef tank!

The small mods I had to make were very simple. I replaced the piece of foam that they give you for defusing the bubbles on the return line, with one from a Mag 5. The one that was included with the skimmer restricted water flow, and the skimmer kept over flowing. The second mod I made was to eliminate the "silencer" on the air tube, and replace it with one of the small valves that come with maxi-jets. The valve works awesome for controlling the amount of air the pump gets! These two small mods and this skimmer is simply amazing IMO. Here are a couple pics. These pics were taken two days after getting the skimmer. I'll take new pics tomorrow if requested to do so. ;)

i figured that you would like to see the bubbles in the neck.

this is the skimmate. like i said though, its a little on the wet side because i put it a little too deap in my sump and its a little too late for me to change now.

p.s. it looks real wet in the picture because i had a light held up to it for you to see. its really darker than it appears

well, after my skimmer broke in, it has worked fantastic. infact, i bought a ASM G3 to test the difference between a name brand verses a cheap E-Shopps, the Eshopps skimmer out skimmed the ASM by far..... in fact, i let the ASM skimm for 2 days and wasnt happy, so i pulled it out and the E-Shopps skimmed more in 2 hours than the ASM did in those 2 days. (the asm was used and was a fellow reefer so it was already broke in)
here are a few money shots. (bad quality because i only own a camera phone, no real camera.)
