If I buy 2 ORA picasso clowns, I assume they are really young, is there a chance that they will pair up and breed? Also what is bred to get the picasso clowns? 2 picassos?

No one?

"Umm, fish?"

Any two juvenile clowns should eventually pair up and breed if they are happy in their situation and fed a lot. That said, it's sometimes hard to get clown pairs going.

As for the genetics of your specific clowns, I think you'd have to ask ORA (and I doubt they'd tell you).

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I don't really care if they do, just curious.

I think it's an admirable goal and one I try to keep in mind for all my fish.

actually there are a few writeups on the genetics of these fish: any misbarring, 2 picasso or two naked clowns beget standard looking clowns and a small percent of misbar'd ones

So if I get 2 ORA grade A picassos, and they breed will the babies be albinos or is it like breeding 2 yellow labs, you could get some yellow, browns, and blacks?

mendelian genetics state that you get a mixed bag in a predictable allelic manner. Thats if misbaring were truly genetic- which it appears not to be. There are a number of theories that misbaring has an environmental component.
So i guess you'd end up w/ some picasso-looking fish, some regular looking fish and some inbetween

IIRC it's like some unreal number they go through to get even one. 60K:1?
