I need someone that can get me the measurement of a AGA/Aqueon 40g breeder tank with the plastic trim included. I`m building a stand and know the tank size but need to know the size with the plastic trim added in so I can figure that into the measurements. Tank is going to slide into the top of the stand so I need to make ample clearance but dont want a huge gap either.

Thanks for any help with this measurement. I already called two LFS and they don't have any in stock and can only tell me 36x 18.........

The usual O.D. dimensions for a 40 gallon breeder are usually 36"by 18" by 16". If you do the math it is almost 45 gallons but the glass and trim itself reduces the volume it contains to a shade over 40. Most trim on the tank is considered in the above measurement. If you need more exact figures you will need to get out your tape measure.

Here's and old article on you project Aquariums (http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-03/dw/index.php)

36 1/4 x 18 5/16 x 17, but that was an All-Glass version. Assuming they didn't change it you should be close. I would add about another 1/4-1/2 inch to be safe. The old catalogue listed the 40 Breeder as 36 3/16 x 18 1/4 x 16 15/16 so maybe there are slight variances. Then again maybe my ruler sucks. :)

Thanks. Thats what I was looking for. I figured the trim would add that much more into the figure. I also have the old AGA spec page and was hoping they didnt change it for the newer Aqueon tanks..

Its so much easier when you have the tank here to go by............

Thanks guys

No problem and good luck! The 40g Breeder is one of my favorite small tank sizes.
