I just won the auction and perhaps I should have done a bit more research on this specific type of zoa. I cannot find any reference to Evil Eyes Zoas anywhere online? Did you name these? What makes them any different from the commonly available radioactive dragon eyes? They look very similar.

Looking forward to seeing them in person.

Congrats on your recent win with AA. We have fun when naming corals and haven't paid attention to the ongoing CRAZE of naming other than just for fun!!

Perhaps you should change that. Making up names is what makes the craze crazy. As silly as it may seem to the old timers of the industry it is becoming the standard and makes it easy for zoa collectors to know what they are getting. You're just making a confusing situation more confusing. I know it's a hot topic right now but as a seller of coral there is no need to make stuff up.

It is easy to find the name using:
http://www.zoaid.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=15
It took me 30 seconds to find the real name of these. I realize there is some variability in photos and it can be difficult to be 100% sure on some but couldn't use just say that in the description. For example, you could write "We haven't kept up with the current zoa names but these look a lot like radioactive dragon eyes"

But by giving it it's own name it gives the impression that you're trying to cash in on the craze.

As a seller some would argue that you should keep up to date with the current trends.
I may come off as a bitter buyer but that is not the truth. I am looking forward to getting this beautiful coral and doing business with you again if the transaction goes well. You have some great looking stuff. I just think you should put more time into accurately describing what you sell. The crazy names aren't going away and some consistency would really improve the situation.

Didn't change your mind huh?
Same zoas with a new name?
Green Beehives?
The marketing department must be working overtime.
Identical zoas with two different names.

Names are just that a name. The coral or in this case Zoanthid Colony is the true value.

Again, we thank you for your comments.

Tummi, i agree on the names of corals being too saturated in the market. i am always looking at zoos thinking did that guy make that up?? is it rare just because he has a great imagination? i really hate the folks out there that call there zoa or paly, or sps or whatever a specific name like zombie eyes for instance. i havent seen it on every site so i start thinking thats what they look like, then i see 3 other variations. that is very confusing. i think w/ aquatic auction however, they arent calling these things mock names, or somewhat confusing ones. i think they are just trying not to be out marketed by someone. fact is if someone just said green zoanthids, and the guy beside him had the same frag, and called theme insane beehives, we would buy the named one. so the market may have forced alot of retailers to go w/ the name craze. just my oppinion

guys on the supplier list there listed as:
Grade AA Zoas
or something mundane and un specific.

A name does not make a coral that coral.
because u dont know who named it first?
Same Zoas have diff color morphs in diff lighting.

Plus If he gets a fresh wild shipmemt, he cant use the same name anyway. A coral using the same name in true deff must come from the same exact colony. So technically he HAS to rename em.

The whole naming of coral IS "JUST MARKETING!!" anyway.

Has anyone noticed the bid history at this site I have found the same bidders out bidding themselves within a minute. kind of scary although they do have some beautiful specimens, its crazy those bidders want them so bad they out bid themselves guess it drives them crazy like that.

One thing that may be missed is that folks are placing proxy bids and it looks like the same person bidding over and over again and not winning.
If joe has a proxy or max bid of say 100 and Billy and Bob want the coral but are only bidding 3 bucks at a time there will be a million bids until they reach the max or proxy bid of Joe.
The Max bid is a great tool. Set it and walk away but some folks like Bob and and Billy like the thrill of bidding a few bucks at a time or aren't sure on how to bid with proxy or max bid.
