must i accumulate and quarantine the fish in a "copper free" holding tank for a few days before moving it into the main reef tank? is it necessary?
can i instead accumulate and transfer it to the main reef tank immediately?
thanks

i just net them and than put them in a tank of fresh salt water for a bit than to the display tank the new saltater step is to make shure that no copper gets into my display

Agreed. I'm not a big fan of preemptive copper treatment, but as long as you don't add any of the copper treated water to your tank, you'll be fine adding the fish right away. Of course, I wouldn't be a good reef keeper if I didn't say that as a practice, you should still always quarantine any fish that you buy regardless of what the LFS did (or said they did).

You don't want any copper in your reef tank.

AJDuran is essentially correct. You want less than the normal hobby test kit is going to be able to detect. I don't know if there's been any actual research on the lethal dose for different invertebrates, but it doesn't take much.

I think I saw thread here once where somebody used cuprimine in his tank where he had cleaner shrimp with no I'll effects but I wouldn't try it
