I have 2 clowns in quarantine on a 5 day pre-emptive copper treatment. Will 5 days be long enough or is more time needed?

I usually QT for four weeks assuming nothing needed to be treated http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1207733

I think copper treatment for 2-3 weeks is normal for Ich. I don't know about treating anything else. not sure.

but 5 days isn't enough time, that I know.

i also DO know that hyposalinity treatment needs 6-8 weeks.

I QT everything (including inverts and such) for at least 4 weeks. I always put new fish through hypo, so it usually ends up being closer to 6 weeks, as I leave then at hypo for 4, but spend the rest of the time lowering and especially raising the salinity.

I am using a product called lifeguard by Instant ocean and treatment is only 5 days. How high do you get the salinity during hyposalinity?

Hypo is low. 1.029 SG. You MUST use a calibrated refractometer for this. This level is very close to the fishes tolerable levels of salinity.

I QT-d my neon goby for 5 days, then got boared.. pored some DI water into a plate put him there. he was there for 5 mins and acted as if it was salt water, which totally surprised me. Then he went straight into the tank. I have no clue what he eats (small pod at night maybe) but still alive after 1 month... :)

Salinity 1.009 not 1.029. Bring it down over the course of a few days, up slower. For copper treatment, the copper only kills the free swimming phase, so 3 weeks minimum, but 6 to be sure. I had my royal gramma in QT and it didn't manifest ich for almost 2 weeks.
