i have a nice big system going up. but haven't decided on a skimmer yet. it's goin to be a 40g long DT, 40g long frag tank, 40g long fuge, and 40g lon sump. the skimmer space is 15L,11w, 22H. i only have 5.5" clearence for the collection cup. looking to spend around $200 for a skimmer.

im torn between a few skimmers. i know nothing about skimmers or what makes them great other then fine bubbles is good. here's a few that i can choose from.

The best skimmer ever is the G-series... Even a G2 is a inexpensive fantastic skimmer.

The G series is old technology. I would look at the new Octos with the simi=cone or a extreme 160.

I would consider finding a way to make more height available to the skimmer section. You're really limiting future options on such a critical component.

The MSX/Octo Extreme 200 would be the smallest I'd run on that system.

it's two double 55g stands next to each other.

While I'm not a fan, you could look into an external skimmer. This will eliminate your height & cup removal issues.

so i decided to go with the nw200 but i need to know the hight of the cup itself to see if i can squeeze it inbetween 5.5" of clearence
