I'm thinking I've won the war regarding dinos in my tank, but am not yet willing to declare victory. I'd like to know how many of you who've dealt with a dino outbreak have won the war.

It took me 1.5 years to figure out it was dinos and not regular algae, the way I stopped them was by removing the sandbed, stop water changes, and getting sea hares. If you do this you will beat them no matter what.

This is how to eliminate them:

plancton,

That article (http://www.revbiolmar.cl/resumenes/v382/382-57.pdf) you posted is very interesting. I'm certain that in a few years, we'll have any easy solution to dinos in reef tanks. I also had luck by letting my nitrates rise. I got to the point of neglecting my tank for the last three months, and all of a sudden they were gone. When I was doing lots of water changes, changing the GFO, changing the carbon, etc..., the dinos were flourishing. 3 months of neglect and they're gone!

I've now started doing weekly water changes for the past three weeks, and so far I haven't seen them return. If I do, I will immediately stop the WCs again. I'm just wondering if they're really gone?

Almost all of my coraline algae died because of dinos, but once it comes back it really helps against any bloom.

No problem, I created it a few months ago and not many people seemed to care, but as you can see from the pictures if anybody has fully lived the dino nightmare and succeded that would be me.

So far 8 of 11 votes are from people who've been dino free for more than 3 months. This is a promising sign, especially since no one selected nuking their tank and starting over. I'm curious to see how this shakes out after more votes come in.
