I am a halide noob!

I have an Aqua Medic 4x250 to hang over my 175 but I am not sure about bulb configuaration.

My first though is (4) 14k Phoenix bulbs.

Any other suggestions?

Would it be crazy to mix 14k and 20k?

Thanks!

It wouldn't be crazy to mix, but I don't think you would like it. Depending on the bulbs there would be a lot of differences --- which to me would look natural.

Does it have any supplemental lighting?

The Phoenix are good bulbs, I have run them in the past over my 75, and am running one over my 33 right now.

What MH bulbs do you have now (( if any ))

About a mouth ago I had a new fixture for my 75 --- Current outer orbit, 2*250 MH + 4*54 T5 --- The MH are 10K bulbs and the T5s are 2 "blue" and 2 "purple" Anyways, when I ordered it I order two Phoenix bulbs because I planned on switching out the 10Ks. Well, I got lazy and haven't gotten around to it, and now the 10K have grown on me, I not sure if I am going to do the switch. And over my 58 I have 2 Radium 20K bulbs, so I am normally a blue bulb person.

Well Todd...thats part of my problem. I got the fixture used and it came with 3 working bulbs but was told they will need replacing soon. I have not had an oportunity to go see any halide set ups and see the difference between 10k 14k 20k.I dont even have any water in this tank yet! So I am kind of shooting in the dark (so to speak). I'm a T5 guy making the halide jump.

I think I would prefer a "blueish" look though...but not to the point it doesnt look natural. I dont know for sure but I dont think these 4x39 T5's are going to add much supplementation. I hope I am wrong.

Thanks for the help everyone!!!!
