A little sunshine to help our mood today a little maybe. Bree has had her 2nd succesful molt and woke up with a voracious appetite and was demanding her "breakfast". I gave her a thawed, Selcon soaked, soft Krill and she litterally grabbed the bamboo skewer and started eating without letting go. I had to laugh at her. I needed to move her ball of Chaeto from her door and she came out and grabbed it and put it right back where it was. She is such a riot. I am so blessed so far with her health and especially with her being my first stomatopod. I owe my success to reading in particular, this Forum and articles by Dr. Roy.
Thank you so very much. You are such a help to us all.
Just wanted to brighten up our day a little.

Congratulations! I'm glad to hear Bree is doing good, it's always hard on stomatopods and their servants during a molt. My G. chiragra, Chet, disappeared for around a month and I was getting worried. Out he popped one day and I was so relieved! Sounds like Bree is exhibiting her own unique personality around you, makes me want to get a peacock even more now. Again congrats! :)

Thanks, guys...she definitely has her own personality...very determined.lol. I know when she stares and "waves" her antennae at me non-stop that she is hungry. I don't know if all Peacoks are so interactive, but I sit beside her tank many times during the day so she is used to me. I also move my fingers a lot at her so she won't be afraid of them. She seems to "wave" back, but that could be wishful thinking. I am grateful she is doing well...they certainly grow on you.
nikes, you will have success...never give up..They are fragile little things and it doesn't take much to upset their world.
Koshmar...how did the finals go??? I know you had to do well...that's just you and your super IQ...I am proud of you for staying focused on them. Not easy now-a-days.

Thanks for the concern Curly, I haven't got my grades back. I have a feeling they didn't go too well. :(
I was really upset during finals week, a lot has been going on at home and at work. This semester has been really hard on me emotionally... But I'm doing a lot better now and looking forward to next semester and maybe summer classes if I ever get around to registering. Oh I don't have a high IQ by a long shot, trust me  I'm just glad my cuttlefish is still alive, if that little guy died during my hard times I don't know what I'd do. Our little marine friends do a lot for us even if they don't know about it. Your peacock Bree sounds so awesome, I wish Little Buddy Dallas could meet her, too bad LBD would probably be killed when they "played".... I wish stomatopods could exist together peacefully as individuals, that would be so cool.
Thank you so much for your nice words Curly, you are good person.

How wonderful nikes !!!! Yes, Billy is a great guy, and he does a great job of shipping. Bree came to me when the temp was below freezing and was nice and cozy. So glad you will get another from him. Billy wouldn't send anything buy best quality.
Koshmar...now I know you did well. ...I know personal things can really mess with your concentration, but when you get into it I'll bet it just came naturally and you end up with flying colors. Keep up that chin !!!
My computer is messing with me in a very bad way...I would like to bash it like Bree does..lol...I got invaded and it even infected McAfee..keeps giving me run-time errors, fatal errors, etc.Not to mention, the insults have to be in slow dial-up. Gads for speed in the country.
I wish Dallas could meet Bree too. Bree has started using Chaeto a lot lately. I have been trying to think of what to put in their tanks for them to play with. What do you guys think? What kind of Stomatopod Toy could we invent? Maybe we can come up with something and get rich. Then I could get speed dial !!! And hire a kid to teach me how to use it and my new Camera.

*Sigh*...it is now my turn...two weeks full of exams starting next week and I'm caught up with four website projects, more pets than there are US dollars, and various other stuff...

I think the best play thing for a stomatopod is a small crab. If we're talking about inanimate objects I would go with kenya tree's or colorful irregularly shaped objects. My G. chiragra does like to watch my prolifera wave in the currents as well as chaeto balls.

Koshmar !!!! Bree scared me to death today...I won't know if she is totally Ok until tomorrow...she collapsed her PVC and LR construction...she had been moving her PVC lately...there were 3 pieces of it and she had worked them loose. She looked like she still had some of her molt left between her rapt areas and curled up by her ball of Chaeto and proceeded to get it off. Meanwhile, I did damage-repair and installed her new burrow...an S shaped 2" PVC piece and put some heavy LR by it and all her LR rubble and a few snails. She is now in her burrow and just came out and got a snail and is eating it. Boy....you don't realize how really strong they are until you see what she did. I so hope she didn't damage herself in any way. I don't think she did...my optimisim won't let her.
One of my dogs has a plastic talking ball that is indestructable...I wonder if a smaller version (without the talking chip or any metals) would make a good toy. I don't know if it would stay down or float though. Chaeto just makes such a darn mess. I just got some nylon bags from F&S and put my floating Chaeto in them so those pieces won't get all over and clog the PH's and stuff.
I'll report tomorrow how our girl is doing. XXX to Dallas from Bree.

Thank you Curly...
I know how you feel about the close call today. Today I came home to a very noticeable layer of oil on the tank surface. Tagron was missing and I thought something happened to him.
About 30 minutes later, he popped his head out to throw out a bunch of zoanthids he didn't want for construction anymore.
I feel lost today.

It will be interesting if Dallas turns out to be a female, I don't know if he/she is still in the juvenile phase or not. But if Dallas could give a big stomatopod hug I'm sure he'd give one to Bree. :)
Michael, oily substance? What's that from? Don't feel so lost, none truely know where they are in life, that's the point. It's the journey not the progress that we all should focus upon.
