Damaged Coral

I had my magenta stylophora fall from it's place while cleaning a coupl of days ago. The area that came in contact with the sand has all turned white. should I prune off that area or just leave it? All the other branches are doing fine and PE it great. Any suggestions welcome.

You can see if it will recover otherwise break that area off. Breaking it off will encourage new growth anyway
