I just added ATO to the Profilux. I am using an Optical sensor on A Profilux Plus 2 EX. It is hung with the profilux assembly bar and sensor holder.

I keep having to reset an error every day because the optical turns on the pump and does not stop until it times out. Here are the settings that I am using

ATO 1 enabled, ATO Always on. 2 & 3 Disabled because I do not have them.

Digital powerbar socket set to level and is working

Sensitivity is 10 seconds

Max run time is 1 minute. It seems to go the full minute before stopping.

Anyone have any thoughts. I am ready to toss this and go back to my tried and true dual float.

Right now I have the pump unplugged because as soon as I plug it in it starts and will not stop until the max run time shuts it off and then I have to reset the error.

any bubble under the eye of the sensor

Do ou see the sensonr reaction in Profilux Control when you take out the sensor in and out of the water? The one located in the "Current Sensor states"

I have had 2 optical sensors go bad on me within a six month period. IMO these sensors are less reliable than a cheap diy ato.

we had 9 optical sensor returned in 36 months and over 1,200 sold. ( less than 1%) There were a small batch that were not sealed correctly and the view window turned opaque in long time water exposure.

These things happen in production sometimes but as soon as we found there was a very small numer with issues we posted here a while ago.

As stated in two posts, if you have one of these issues just let us know to get it replaced with either the new non contact sensor or the replacment (sealed) optical

Are the new non-contact sensors available now?

not yet, waiting on a release date from GHL

I want to add that these sensors are not manufactured by us.
We obtain a special modified version of optical sensors which fits to the ProfiLux system. Of course we check any single sensor before shipping. Actually the same type of sensors are used in an hydraulic subsystem of Airbus planes - so they are usually a very good quality.

Release date
In week 22 we will have new optical sensors (now double checked from the manufacturer and slightly revised)
In week 23 we expect the contactless sensors

I will take a high resolution picture of the optical sensor as it is actually dark. I am not sure what it is supposed to look like so this would be the easiest route rather than guessing.

I write this post while shamefully holding my head down......

I discovered the problem, and like most issues with complicated electronic it was "user error". I had two problems, the first was that the max on time was 1 minute which was not long enough to accommodate my pump in the fresh RO/DI reservoir. I kept getting a level error because it would max out. I reset it to 2 minutes max on time and it has not tripped in over 24 hours. I will cross my fingers.

The second problem related to flooding my sump. Well it seems that when I unplugged the pump from the digi powerbar so that I could do a water change I plugged it back into a socket that was configured for always on. Opps.

Anyway, on to the next problem/user error.
