I ordered two lemon peels from saltwaterfish.com and both of them have died. I have a 34 gallon reef tank has been set up for over 6 months with refugium and excellent water quality. Are these fish difficult? I drip acclimated them both for over 3 hours what the heck is going on?? Any help would be appreciated.

If you order from a reputable place (LA, RHS, BZA, etc.) they'll surely last for many years to come .

swf.com = notoriously bad (do a search!)

Lemonpeel Angel = notorious reef wrecker (do a search!)

I have ordered from SWF and have gotten healthy specimens which the last order was a Lamark Angel and a Neon Wrasse which was about 2 weeks ago and they both are doing extremely well. I have ordered from BLZ as well and only have 2 fish from a order of 5 that are still alive and had lost some Angels before from them as well.

To me it is just a miss or hit with any of the online retailers as to shipment quality that they get.

lemonpeel angels are notorious for being caught using cyanide. Do you think that may be the problem?

lemonpeels are not notoriously caught with cyanide. they are caught from Christmas Island, Vanuatu, Fiji, Marshalls mainly, all of which have excellent collecting practices. Lemonpeels in general are tough to keep, mainly due to diet requirements and they seem to break down easy (discoloring, red dorsal fins etc) I dont like dealing with them!

no worries, its good to spread correct information :) They are found in many many locations, so they could possibly be using cyanide in a select spot, but the majority of them are from those locations.

Personally, I would never acclimate a fish longer than 45min.
Unless you put a powerhead in or an airstone the O2 deficit could be enough to kill an already stressed fish.
Sorry for your loss, Lemonpeels are one of the most beautiful fish.
BTW, are you sure 2 in a 34g tank is OK?
