Hey,

I have a 31g tank with a pair of O. clowns and a royal gramma. I would like to add chalk bass as well, but I am not sure if he would clash with the gramma, considering they are both in the basslet family.

Any ideas, thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

You may have a few problems to begin with but it should be fine.

If you are going to do it, introduce the chalk bass when the lights are out. I've kept both together with no problems before.

I think it helps that the chalk bass is not really much of a cave dweller in comparison to the gramma so it shouldn't impede too much on the gramma's territory/niche

Any pictures of your chalk bass?

Do they look anything like the picture?

Chalk bass are very passive fish. I would be more worried about your clowns beating him up than the gramma. Good luck! It is a pretty fish for sure.

Not any more sorry. This was a few years ago. I had a group of three with a royal gramma.

Two of them looked like the above and the other was much darker and looked a lot like this old RC TOTM one:
