So, I have realized there are virtually no fish I can put in with him, he is my oldest fish at nearly 4yrs. But I hate having restrictions b/c of him. I need more movement in the tank(fish) is there anything I can put in there that he will back down to? Or should I try and pawn him at my lfs

I would just remove him with a fish trap and then stock up my tank with all of my fav little fish.

mine ended up with Hannibal, my 4' gymnothorax undulatus - he lasted about a year there - i guess he eventually became a midnight snack

Have you ever met a timid pseudo? They can be very aggressive. They have no problem going after much larger fish either.

From what I have read dotty backs are pound for pound one of the meanest fish. If it has been in there for 4 years then that tank is his ... or hers lol, and there isn't much that it will back down from.

Im in the same boat. Wife liked the little purple guy, bring him home and the dude thinks he owns the tank. Effin bastard I hate the damn thing. So I finally cath this little sucker in a trap whoo hoo I was gonna flush him down the toilet since it would be 3 days till I could get to the LFS but the wife said NOOOOO. Came home for lunch and the bastard somehow got out......All I can say is, that must have been a reality check for him, so far he is much much more relaxed in the tank. He still likes to pick on my six line wrasse though. I will never buy one again and I still might get rid of him when I change to my 125g tank
