I am looking at a 48" PC fixture with 4x54W bulbs sold at aquatraders for about $100. The replacement bulbs are around $10 each. Is this just about what I would need for a fish only 55 tank?
Anything bad about a cheap fixture and bulbs for a fish only tank??
By the way I think I can get better PC bulbs down the line anyways right?

As far as power consumption vs lumens which type of lighting would be best? maybe T5 VHO?

Last thing.. I currently have live rock in the tank. Anything bad about downgrading the lighting? I have now a T6 216W fixture that costs too much to replace the bulbs.

thanks for the help.

I have normal T-5 on my 90 agressive tank and i love them...
since its fish only the light is only for your own enjoyment.
you could do standard flouresents (sp) if you wanted to

If you want to get cheaper lighting I would go with the NO T5s. They don't use a lot of electricity and the bulb replacement should be pretty cheap as well.
I had normal 40 watt bulbs in a fixture when I started and the live rock flourished. More light is obviously better, but if you are concerned about costs I would ditch the power compacts and go with NO T5s or just regular flourescent bulbs.

Just get a shop light from HD or Lowes they are like $8.
