lots of people in the hobby can say they have given their blood sweat and tears......

but not everybody can actually prove the blood part........

yes, I was fragging polyps when I did that and yes, I am not always the brightest star in the toolshed.

Ouch... looks like that hurt... Fragging zoas is easy tho... you take bone cutters and cut up the rock its on and glue em on to plugs. any flesh connecting the rock pieces can be cut with a scalpel. Then I dunk them in Iodide solution and let them sit for a few seconds out of water. I add them in and they open up in a few hours and heal in a few days. simple as that

I actually prefer a super duty razor blade when possible. Plus I am now afraid of scalpels...the bone comes much too quickly

simply cut the mat in between the polyps you want off, and with the heavy duty blade scrape the rock out from underneath the polyps you want. that way the rock isnt destroyed and the remaining polyps are not bothered hardly at all and can continue growing out onto a flat surface as you left it intact. the ones you cut off still have rock undernath them and are easily glued whereveer and hardly stressed as well

also prefer to glue them to rubble over plugs. Then the polyops dont need needlessly stressed again for whever is going to get them. they simply put the rock wherevr they want without having to remount anything

many ways to skin a cat

man that is a crazy gash. I have heard mixed opinions on super glue gel and zoas. What seems to be the general consensus on this, is it okay for the zoas, or bad for them?

super glue is great.

just try not to use so much that it creates a well of glue around the polyps. A little dab will do ya. Any more than that it not onlcy creates a spot where they fresh cuts are possibly more likely to get infected, it takes much more energy to grow out fo the hole, than to grow out onto a flat surface

I actually prefer gorilla super glue for polyps. It is thinner than gel, but not as thin as normal stuff

i've only used super glue gel and it works pretty good and is cheap, but i would recommend something a little stronger and thinner if you can. i might try gorilla super glue as flyyyguy suggested.

I'm a bit partial to IC Gel or the superglue gel that you can get at the dollar store. 6 small tubes for a dollar.

quote-I'm a bit partial to IC Gel

IC gel is my standard for everything else as iots pretty cheap, but a few months ago I started using the gorilla stuff for polyps and think its a winner.

If anyone wants to completely disprove the notion that all super glue gel is the pretty much the same..........go find some Jurassic Gel by Paleo bond. This is in concern to sps of course. It actually doesnt cost any more than the IC gel if you buy it in 200 gram tubes. But by the time you get halfway through a 200 gram tube it is a fricken mess unless you are way more careful than I.
