So my Finnex 30g has 3 small holes in each of the lower back corners of the tank, to aid in circulation. Not a bad idea from Finnex.

Problem is that these holes are only about an inch above the sand bed and my sand-sifting goby likes to "play" in one of the corners. This means that sand is constantly being sucked into the back chambers of the tank and getting recirculated into the water column, etc.

He only plays in one of the corners so I want to block those holes with something.

I don't have any black acrylic handy but I found a thin neoprene rubber gasket when I was at home depot today that would work if I just cut it into 3 small pieces and superglue them over the 3 holes.

I read that Neoprene rubber is reef safe, but the stuff really smells bad so I'm thinking twice. It just smells like rubber/chemicals and I'm hesitant to use it. Is this stuff really reef safe??
