Is quik-Crete ok for diy frag plugs. The bag says it's sand and Portland cement.

I have used quick crete for plugs. It was fine but I honestly was unhappy with the way they looked. A friend of mine showed me how to mix the concrete with coral rubble. Using less concrete and more rubble the plugs looked nicer. Have to use a mold to make it work right. Experimenting with mixtures is a good idea. My biggest beef was the plugs were rock hard and not easy to work with.

mix the cement with a large portion of coarse aragonite. That will keep them from becoming solid concrete plugs. Once they are dry, soak them in saltwater for a few days to cure out and stabilize. Fresh cement is highly caustic.
