Currently I use ceramic plugs from BAF. I love them specifically because nuisance algae does not attach to them really. For those that have used coral cradles, how do you like them? Do you get a lot of unwanted growth or just coraline?

I have used both, and prefer the coral cradles. I have had some algae growth on the cradles, but usually only stringy hair algae that came in with the frag. Nice thing is it is easily removed as the CC's are smooth.

the only issue I had with the cradles was they got blown around a little when its a small frag

It seems as if they fit tightly in some types of eggcrate and not in others, they seem to fit very well into ABS eggcrate as opposed to the styrene.

I like both mounts it just depends what the final outcome is. With the cradles I can mount the coral to a small piece of rubble and pry it out when I'm ready to mount it. With the ceramic plugs I can mount encrusting corals on them and cut the shaft off to mount.

i have used the cradles. i just dont like the way the look. when you have half a frag tank full it looks like a toy factory instead of a propagation tank. the one plus is if you have to float a frag during shipping, styrofoam sticks great to the bottom. i like using oceans wonders frag plugs. i believe it is some type of aragonite sand. it is easy to just dig out the frag w/ something sharp, mound it and reuse. as long as you dont totally crater the top you can reuse several times
