Greetings All- I have read that when people get 'new' fish they obviously QT but ALSO treat with prazipro and sometimes cupramine. Has anyone put a fish into hyposalinity for ich treatment, just incase? THis is assuming you slowly acclimate the QT down to hyposalinty.

Yep, sure have, and ich has shown up a few days later but the hypo has always killed it off. Better safe than ending up like the all too common threads I've seen of most to all fish dying in the main tank from not QTing or running at least hypo in QT.

thanks for the fast response. do you also use treat with prazi while in hypo? or is that a dead combination (like cupramine and prime)

All my scorps will be hypo'd before going in their DT. I don't want to deal with Ich in the future on sharp little fish!

I've only ever used the hypo. Maybe someone else can chime in about prazi.

Ich showed after hypo and medication treatment?

Ich showed after a few days in QT while under hypo. The signs of ich can show up anytime in the first week or two even in proper SG hypo. That is why it is necessary to continue hypo at least 6 weeks AFTER the last spot of ich is seen in QT.

ok, what about with medication? I'm using cupramine now and this is week two, my Passer had Ich.

Ive used Mardel's coppersafe and hypo at the same time once in my dt for 2 months without "seeing" any problems
