i just got some frags from a local guy, and 2 of the frags need to be glued to a plug, i have the plugs, but i dont have the superglue gel. will regular superglue work? or how about gorilla glue super glue, it looks thicker than regular glue? those are the only 2 that i have handy. its a real pain for me to go all the way in to town for some glue.... will either of these work or do i need to go get some superglue gel?

the gel really works better...no need to attach them to a rock right now, go to the store tomorrow and attach them then. I guess I should ask what kind of coral are you attaching?

one is a elk horn, and the other is a green plate coral.

i would suggest using a super glue gel. the best i have found is oceans wonders gel. the stuff is super thick. also being SPS gel will coat the cut spots. i have had death in and around the cut areas, when i didnt get superglue on all of the actual cut area. also works well to drill a tiny hole in the middle of the frag plug so the glue has a good surface to bond to :)

Has anyone used "nuskin" its like superglue but is made for cuts. I have used the hopsital brand of it called "Durmabond" but its quite pricey. I noticed that the coral seened to encrust over it ALOT faster.
I just with that i had more of it :)

i have used newskin... and wow. there is a little burn when you opn that cut, fill it then close it. but it does work greatthough on fingers?
im too new and cant afford trying new yet. i have to stick with the tryed and true method
p.s. i have filled cuts with regular super glue. it works just as good but with no disenfectant. (oilfield first aid)

I've typically taken frags in the water they came in and dripped water from the target tank into them over a 30 min period. I also added a few drops of Kent marine iodine to help stave off infection. When ready, I used Super Glue gel to attach them to a rock. It works best for me to have a small rock ready to glue the base to. I keep the coral in the water and only have the base sticking out to attach it to the rock. Once I've held it and let it cure for about 60s, I carefully place it in the tank. It has worked very well for me. I would not use any other type of glue.

Dollar tree sells the glue for 1.00. Or go to Walmart, Kmart ect.

the point of this was that i live a long ways from sivilization.... i was asking if it would work, it sucks to have to drive 20 min to get super glue and then drive 20 min back.

not sure if anyone else does this, i've tried different types of superglue and just hate that sticky stuff!

I get a thin needle and thin fishing line, or use thin wire or toothpick and stick it through the base of soft corals. then use two small rubber bands (i use my 4 year olds tiny rubber bands for her hair) to band each end to the rock. Then after a few days when the coral has attached itself to the rock or plug, carefully remove the needle and rubber bands.

**did i mention how much i hate superglue?**

Plain old super glue gel. A little patience, and it works like a charm.
