Anyone know where I can get my hands on a blue hornet single head is all I want? Has anyone ever seen them in person? The only place I have ever seen them for sale is on ebay and they sold from $285-305 for a single head.

i have seen them in person, and those prices on fleabay are crazy.anyone who pays $300/polyp for a zoanthid is just not that bright, they are not worth it and you can get them cheaper if you look.we got some purple hornets and they were going for $300 on fleabay but we paid $50/polyp by PMing the seller on RC and getting them that way.

Aquarium Fanatics in Orlando has a single polyp PURPLE Hornet for $100. If you want it that bad then it may be worth the trip but give them a ring to see if they still have it. I saw it and it is the real deal.

You can pick up purple hornet look alikes for really cheap... like $1 per polyp... they are a really nice purple with the circle, just don't have 100% of the look of the named "purple hornets".
if it's just looks you're after, get the lookalikes... if it's "collect-ivitis disease" that you have and need the real deal then good luck... that's a bad habit I'll never get into again!

LOL....i hear that. I really just like the colors but if you can get a colony going they make for a great trade for other things.

it's the "what if" the other direction that teaches the lesson! :D
a gorilla crab just ate some yellow zoas I fragged for a friend and put in the sump until this morning for her... didn't know there was one hiding in the live rock in the sump. :mad2:
can you imagine if that was a $ 10 to $100 per polyp frag instead of a $1 per polyp frag?
:eek1:

The purple hornet is slooow to produce more polyps. The "look-a-like" is the african blue hornet which have been melting away in people's tanks after 3 weeks. Hopefully we can study the proper conditions for the african blue hornet to survive in aquaria.
