Mimic Eibli Tang - Acanthurus tristis

Anyone have experience with these tangs? From what I've seen they don't get very big, and I was wondering if a 250g tank would be big enough for a few of them (3 or 4).

Is it even possible to keep a few of them together or are they just way too aggressive towards each other?

I only kept one, it was a great fish, and even the fully mature ones I have seen are small.
Bit dull though.

they would probably kick off, they are generally solitary I think, you might be lucky but it's a gamble

I bought one a year and a half ago and it was the spitting image of the butterfly. It was about 2-3 inches long. It now has the adult color--drab olive gray with blue lined tail but is the same size!

It's in my 90--it gets along with the other tangs in there too.

not to hijack the thread, but I have one and I am thinking about adding a yellow tang...would this work? Should I add a small yellow or large yellow? I also have a foxface, but the rest of my fish are small.

As for the fish and how it would do with multiples, I think it would be worth a try maybe add three at the same time. I have had mine for a few months along with his buddy the foxface. They hang out constantly and occasionally flare up at each other during feeding, but no fights. They also pick algae together...good luck and let us know what you decide to do...

in a 180 it shouldn't be a problem since they are from different families, just try to get a yellow tang that is somewhat the same size
