Am Cycling a 98 gallon half circle with 125 lbs. of live rock. No corals will be present for at least a year or too. The guy that got me the rock, and set it up for me told me to get tropic marin calcium, Kent marine iodine, and Kent Marine Stron.

He said this would calcify the live rock and start some Coraline algae growth........

Anyways he told me just to add the right amount of scoops to my sump area daily. When i bought the tropic marin at my lfs they told me that adding the calcium to the sump could wear down the impeller on my return pump.

I started just mixing the calcium with water ina cup and adding it directly to my tank, but just read that that makes calcium carbon, and its not benefitting my aquarium.

How should i add the calciumm correctly to the body of water?

Have you bought any test kits yet?

This is a good place to start as far as your water parameters:

I would skip the iodine and the strontium. Our test kits for them aren't very easy to handle, and they don't seem to be worth dosing, in any case.
