I've read that Rod's Food is an awesome product. Does anyone know where to get some with a lower shipping cost?

I have a LFS that actually carries the stuff. It's not that cheap, but it should last me a while. I think it was like $20 for a large pack of it, and $12 for a smaller pack of coral food.

Keep in mind, the high cost of shipping is because the food is frozen. It'll need to be shipped overnight and have an insulated package with cold packs in it.

This is some-what similar and should be available at any LFS or pet store (Petco, Petsmart, etc.)

Take all the cubes out, melt them into a very tiny bucket/container, add a little RODI water and refreeze. Or pour back into the tiny cubes.

Isn't as complete as "Rod's", but is much more affordable and should be much easier to get.

Thanks for the link. It looks like the closest is about an hour and a half away. Not bad...

There are other LFS's that I go to, that sell Rod's and aren't on his website. So I'd call around first.

For instance two LFS's I visit both sell Rod's, but neither is on his site. Then there's a third that IS on his site, and that's how I found about the food.

Try what I recommended above. It's "ok" quality. Not "Rod's Food" quality, but it's decent none-the-less.

another alternative would be to look into some diy food recipes. borneman has one, as well as a few folks around here that i've seen. you could make a great food for a good price if you're willing to do the work yourself.

Also, DFS has a "gel" food, in which I am going to get, mix with Elos and Rods to feed my fish. And just use Rod's to feed my tank.

My fish, for the life of me, will not peck at a solid/turned soft. They will eat pellets to the day they die. So maybe buy clumping up Rod's and crushing the Elos food, I can have the ULTIMATE food, as the DFS gel is supposed to also be a complete food, but not as nutritious as Elos pellets.

Just talked with Rod's food about getting it in my area which the closest is 130 miles for me to. I am going to try to talk my lfs into carrying it. He also said that the store locator list is about a year and a half out of date and he will be updating it in the next week or two.
