chaeto??

I just converted from a wet /dry to a refugium. It had been running for a couple of weeks and I added a ball of chaeto> is it supposed to sink to the bottom or do I need a powerhead? The flow throught the refugium is pretty low.

mine floats i think it all depends on the type of chaeto you have.

Low flow is ok, and yes, chaeto does float. I dont think there is a need for a powerhead in the fuge providing there is some water movement in there between the supply and return.

Yeah mine floats as well and with the flow through the fuge it turns end over end repeatedly 24/7. Keep it from getting too dense so water can easily pass through and around it.

Mine sinks, but it does like good flow. Try to get more water to pass through your refugium chamber if possible.
