I've used them before in HOB filters with success so I see no reason this method wouldn't work.

It's actually going on a friend BioCube 14. As was said it's an in-line chiller.

i'm assuming one of the two holes on either side is where water comes in, and the other is where water goes back out...you'll need pressure to force the water back out...the question is, how are you keeping the water from coming out of the hole where the fan is blowing into to cool the water? it looks like a cool gadget...if it works, you might be able to make a few $$$ off of it...

That is an Ice Probe and the end sticking into the box is a bulkhead. The water cant come out.
The fan is cooling the aluminum vent making the probe cold.

Curiosity is getting the best of me.

Is it an acrylic box ? Is there a removable panel, or did you attach the bulkheads and iceprobe and hope it doesn't leak after you put it together?

It's ABS and the Iceprobe's nut is glued and locked (in case the glue fails the nut is captured) in place.

It took about an hour to make so that wouldn't be the end of the world and the bulkhead can be tightened from up top and if snugging them up doesn't fix any leaks that could arise there is enough play to loosen the nut and apply silicone to the gasket of the bulkhead though I don't see that becoming an issue and if it does, I'll make a new one.

It's all about the tools. Now that I've got the appropriate tools I can't seem to stop making stuff.:D
