24Gal NC question

I have a new NC24gal and noticed that about 2/3 up under the intake drain is a small hole. I see no reason for the hole but was wondering if I should just put some silicone caulk in it or does it serve a purpose?

no I have it to, it as way for the rear chamber to drain if you go to empty the tank, it's harmless just leave it be
