Could I keep an imperator/ emperor Angel in my 120? Are they too big or problematic? I'd like to hear from those with experience. My tank is lightly stocked and I'm trying to plan out its inhabitants early on.

Thanks in advance!

Too big and not remotely reef safe. There are plenty of much more reef safe large angels, although I think they are all too big for a 120.

+1 On the emperor. You may be able to get away with it for awhile as a juvenile, but as it matures, it will need 200+ gallons from everything I've read on them.

I'd try searching around WWM's pages on the different angel generas. They did recommend some of the smaller large angels as being suited for 100+ gallons.

What about a Regal Angel for a 120, then?

I already have a Cherub (Centropyge Argi) angelfish who is quite small... would they be able to get along ok?

100g is the minimum for a regal.

A Regal would work, but unless you get a red sea regal, getting them to survive is highly problematical.

If you have zoos the regal might be a hit or miss. My regal absolutely destroyed zoo's and palys. My emperor would eat mushrooms like candy.

I will revisit the regal after I stock my tank with the rest on my list... sounds like they are difficult to find a good one (but then isn't that the case with lots of the larger fish?)
