Shallow or not

Heres what i have at this time. A 46 bow front, tunze 9005 skimmer, and a tunze nano filter, current 4X39 T5 lighting. I dont have a sump, so everything is in the tank. This isnt a real bother because when I had a drilled tank the overflow was about the same size, so its not a big deal, and there is no noise issue or plumbing to deal with. I've been thinking about a 40 breeder, and going with shallower tank and as of yet havent decided. Is there any advantage going to a shallow tank, 16" vs 21", or is it just a preference?

the aquascaping options in a 40B are much greater with the increased depth front to back. you can keep higher light demanding things, easier to clean, mostly it is a preference though. JMO
