I see that on Liveaquaria under Marine Fish-Information center-Prevent Marine Ich, that you guys recommend Probiotic Marine Formula. http://liveaquaria.com/PIC/article.cfm?aid=81
Do you have any first hand experience with this products or the competitive product which Drsfostersmith also sells "Marine-Max"

Any info from experiences would be appreciated. I am thinking about dosing one of these to the tank just as a prophylactic measure before I purchase a bunch of fish from liveaquaria....after my main tank stays fallow for 8-weeks. I hope they are TRULY reef safe. Thanks.

ryshark,

Thank you for your post. The staff at Drs Foster & Smith tests many of our products before placing them in our catalogs or online. You may want to check the Testimonials tab on each of our product pages for feedback from our customers.

Both the Marine-Max and the Probiotic Marine Formula are designed to be used as a preventative measure. In order to prevent introducing parasites or diseases to a display tank, we recommend that all new arrivals be placed in a quarantine tank for 2-4 weeks depending on the specimen. During that time, hobbyists often treat for parasites with a Copper Sulfate treatment for 14-21 days, and only treat for bacterial infections if there are obvious symptoms (ragged fins, red spots, etc.).
