new to corals i placed a zoanthid (green) in my tank on Sun. noticed when i placed him in there the tank (its 30 gal) soon filled with brown or green "strings". and i mean filled with them. the same thing ocurred yesterday when i did a water change. the zoa hasn't opened up much yet either. is this normal behavior? what are these "strings"? does my zoa have a prayer of survival? thanks in advance for any/all help

There are several types of sedentary worms that use stringy tentacles to catch food -- my guess is that there are a few near the zoa. I have heaps of them in my tank, the strings can be a little ugly at times, but what the heck it's another filter feeder that helps keep things tidy -- and corals will eventually encrust / grow over them anyway.
