Hello,

I am currently downsizing and would like to replace my G-2 with a hang on to conserve space. I have read through several threads and can't really find anyone that can tell what the best back for the buck is. I would love to keep the price under $200 and need any input I can get. I am doing a 50g Tall mixed reef with a sunpower 4x39w fixture and a 20g long sump. I need space in the sump for a small fuge and the G-2 is just way too big.

Thank you ahead of time!

i think that octopus is your best bet as well. the bh 300f is the best model they have IMO. it has bubble plate features, which is a huge advantage in a small skimmer. has dual pumps for max air intake, just a nice setup. at just under $200 it is probably your best bet....unless octopus has an octo extreme hang on skimmer that i dont know about. the new octo extreme series with sicce pumps that are amazing.

I have the reef octopus hob bh100f on my 55 and the thing is a beast. I get constant dark skimate it took a little while to understand how to set the thing up but I am happy as can be if anything it might be to much for the tank but we all know there is no such thing as over skimming

you've got me thinking about saving some money and passing on the hb800s and getting a smaller one.

I would look into the 800S from Octopus. It comes with the all mighty Sicce PSK-2500 pump, which is the real deal. I am running one on my 50g sumpless breeder and it an absolute beast. Pulls dark junk out of my tank weekly. They run $249 brand new w/shipping...
