If I'm gonna get rich soon, I need to start marketing reef additives! I just got an email from a vendor with a featured sale product (no specifics - I'm not out to bash anyone.) The product is a

"water conditioning product that when applied allows the dipole water molecules of the aquarium to realign, promoting greater light penetration throughout the aquarium water."

Come on, realign water molecules for greater light penetration? Do people really believe this stuff? At $40 a bottle for what is probably mostly RO water somebody is getting rich.

I don't know about re-aligning the dipole moment of a water molecule. The hydrogen will always cary a partial positive charge and the oxygen a partial negative.

Now they could a a hydrophilic material that water molecules could bind to. i.e a positive or negative surface to VanDer Walls bond to.... not sure that would improve light penentration as the water is still there.

It is probably just snake oil like you said.

It's alright, I am a nuk mechanic from a sub and my wife makes fun of me all the time for the same stuff. I just don't here too much jargon outside of work. A little intelligent style is a good thing. Look forward to talking to you more.
