I am trying to set my osmo-controller's fill duration. These are the steps i take.

Start from a normal working state...
1) unplug the controller
2) hold down button then replug controller
3) continue to hold button until water starts flowing
4) continue to hold button for duration of water flow (i did 5 seconds of water flow) then release button.

According to the instructions below when the water drops the OsmoController should refill for only 5 seconds right? Well mine continues to fill for 20 seconds (default setting) way past the float's cutoff position.

What am i doing wrong?

So here is what I do:
make sure the float is down (or as it would be if the water needed to be refilled)
plug in the unit
then hold down the button and I hear a beep and it starts running
then I flip the float upside down, as if the water level was high
it starts to beep and I count 10-12 beeps and then release the button and it gives me a long beep indicating it has been set for about 4 seconds. This setting is good for a mini but I would suggest 15-20 beeps for a 70, at a minimum.
I check it by, flipping over the float and wait for it to start pumping. Once it starts pumping I flip it upside down and begin to count how long it takes to stop and this is the set time.
