How effective is this treatment? Will this work in conjunction to Hypo salinity?

formaline is a very effective treatment, against almost everything. it is what i use to battle everything from ich to velvet. i personally would not use it with hyposalinity. it is not necessary, and would add extra stresses to the fish, during an already fairly stressful treatment process.

Does anyone use formaline as they are acclimating a fish prior to adding to qt?

Does anyone use formaline as they are acclimating a fish prior to adding to qt? For wild caught clownfish, yes. Formalin is extremely effective against Brooklynella.
