I run actinics for an hour before the halides come on, and turn them off an hour after the halides turn off.

This produces a more natural dawn and dusk effect in the tank, plus I get to look at the corals under actinics every night before bedtime.

I also turn them on first and leave them on after the MH go off. I have them on for several hours before the MH & several hours after.

Thats the same setting I have for mine. I also have my fans kick on with the same schedule.
It also makes the feeders come out on a lot of corals and I can spot feed them with the actinics on before tank goes dark

I have mine on, but they turn off once the halides come on. When the halides are about to turn off, the t5s come back on for a few hours.

I have mine on for an hour before and after the MHs also. I also stagger three MH lights for six hours each over a 10 hour period.

moonlights, actinics, metal halides, in that order. Reversing at night, in 1/2 hour increments. Also turn actinics off for several hours in the middle of the day.
